The PADI Open Water Diver course teaches student divers the foundational knowledge and skills they need to dive with a buddy, independent of supervision. The Scuba Diver course is a sub-course within the Open Water Diver course that teaches student divers the foundational knowledge and skills they need to dive under the supervision of a certified divemaster, assistant instructor or instructor.

You must be 10 years of age or older [6]. You may be able to earn college credit for the PADI Open Water Diver course!

There are three components to the PADI Open Water Diver program:

  1. The academic portion which can be completed in our classroom using either conventional book/DVD or the new PADI Diver Touch™ (see classroom listings below), or via the PADI eLearning program (see eLearning listings below).
  2. The pool portion is completed in our heated pool.
  3. Open Water checkouts can be completed at a local lake, Cozumel, on a We B Divin’ trip, or we can refer you to another dive shop to complete your checkouts – for example, if you are planning a trip to Belize a PADI facility there could complete your certification.

First of all, pick the option for academic and pool learning that is best for you and your schedule. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions (we know this can get confusing).

  • Private or Semi-Private local checkouts ($150/day plus $50/day for each additional person).

  • If you have done your class and pool elsewhere (another shop, Tarrant County College, etc.) we will do your checkouts locally for $ 185 which includes the rental gear (BCD, regulator, wetsuit, tanks, weights) and PADI certification card.
  1. PADI’s eLearning fee ($130) is not included in pricing and is paid directly to PADI. PADI Open Water Touch can be substituted for eLearning. Both eLearning and Touch give you complete flexibility over the academic portion of your scuba training. Fees include use of large onsite indoor heated pool, weight integrated BCD (Buoyancy Compensator Device), regulator with computer, tanks, wetsuit, and weights.
  2. Fees include student materials and use of classroom as well as the use of our large onsite indoor heated pool, weight integrated BCD (Buoyancy Compensator Device), regulator with computer, tanks, wetsuit, and weights. Prior to class you will watch a DVD, read the student manual, answer knowledge reviews. You will then attend class for lecture and exams and participate in pool sessions to learn gear assembly and 20 basic scuba skills.
  3. Includes a $49 discount on group class fee and use of major gear (BCD, regulator, and computer) with the purchase of personal gear from We B Divin’. Group classes meet weekends (talk to us if you have schedule conflicts). If you are bringing your own personal gear we must verify the fitting and safety of the gear prior to class beginning. Prior to the first class you will need to read all five course modules, view all five DVD modules, complete all five Knowledge Reviews and bring them to class with you.
  4. Semi-Private classes must have at least two students.
  5. Prices subject to change without notice.
  6. PADI eLearning requires an extra registration step for students under 13 years due to international internet laws.
