PADI IDC

PADI Instructor Development Course

This course is a combination of the PADI Assistant Instructor and the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor courses taken in tandem. Successful completion earns the candidate the right to attend a PADI Instructor Examination.

During the Instructor development Course the candidate will learn how to prepare classroom presentations, pool presentation, and open water presentations. They will develop good techniques for anticipating problems and keeping student divers safe.

This program has a duration of seven days (or five days if the eLearning option is used) with skill development in the classroom, pool and open water. At the conclusion the candidate has twelve months to schedule attendance at an Instructor Exam proctored by PADI.

Should a candidate prefer to make the transition to PADI Instructor in small steps they may decide to first complete only the Assistant Instructor Course. This program has a duration of four days (or two days if the eLearning option is used) with skill development in the classroom, pool and open water. This program may be taught by an IDC Staff Instructor and does not require attendance at an Instructor Exam.

At some later point the candidate may decide to attend an Open Water Scuba Instructor Course to move up to a PADI Instructor. This program has a duration of five days (or three days if the eLearning option is used) with skill development in the classroom, pool and open water. Successful completion allows the candidate to schedule attendance at a PADI Instructor Examination.
